Kenneth Eugene Honecker, owner of K-T Equipment Rental in Findlay, Ohio, died June 28 at his daughters residence in rural Findlay, where he had been residing since March.
Ken was born October 16, 1928 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Harry and Edna (Zellers) Honecker. He married Ethel B. Beltz on February 23, 1946. She died April 16, 2008.
He is survived by a daughter: Debra Sue Honecker (J. Thomas) Poole of rural Findlay. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Eugene Honecker, who was his fathers partner in K-T Rental and many other business enterprises, and an infant son, Daniel Eugene Honecker.
Ken was the owner of K-T Equipment Rental and KT Drilling and Blasting for 41 years. He had retired fromAtlas Chemical of Wilmington, Del., after 25 years. He was known in several states as an Icon for his drilling and blasting expertise.
Ken enjoyed his family and was directly involved in many of their activities. He was a proud father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle.
Ken was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying his hunting, fishing, and in particular his bird dogs. Each fall he made his annual trek to the Killdeer Plains Area for the pheasant trials, joining participants for lunch and catching up with the news from the field trial world. Last fall he did not miss a beat, coming to the trials at the Tri Valley venue in October. He was able to attend the Hall of Fame ceremonies in February in Grand Junction, Tenn., when his late son Tom was inducted.
Other surviving family members are his sister, Marg Honecker of Findlay; his daughter-in-law, Mary Schelby Honecker of Arlington, Ohio; one grandson, Curt (Stephanie) Honecker of New Philadelphia, Ohio; and three granddaughters: Victoria Dawn Poole (Hank) Clason of Medina, Ohio, Rebecca Jane Chelsi Poole (Jeffrey) Schwaber of Dallas, Tex., and Nicole Lynn Honecker (Jeff) Beach of Norton, Ohio.
Ken also has nine great grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as Grandpa Joe.
The family expresses its thanks to all of the Hospice care givers for their many kindnesses.
